#MajorRelate with Dr Eliza Filby

Welcome to #MajorRelate, a weekly podcast version of my Substack that cuts through the noise and helps you understand how the world is changing and how we need to adapt. I do this by exploring how generational shifts are shaping the way we live, work, parent, and connect.

This isn’t another lifestyle podcast, nor a self-help manual filled with hollow advice. It’s a space for smart, curious, slightly overwhelmed people—of all generations —but with a particular slant toward burnout millennial mothers (hey, write what you know).

Each edition dissects the big cultural and economic forces shaping our reality, from our shifting workplaces to the rise of “trad wives,” the motherhood penalty, Gen Z’s take on feminism, and the unsettling realization that we are slowly turning into our parents—while also knowing we can’t afford to.

Expect sharp insights, social commentary, and the kind of analysis that arms you with the facts for your next dinner party debate, WhatsApp group chat, or exasperated conversation with your mum.

If you’ve ever felt stuck between the promise of your youth and the reality of adulthood—wondering how exactly we got here—then #MajorRelate is for you.

About me: I’m Dr. Eliza Filby, Sunday Times’ Bestselling author and historian specializing in generational intelligence—essentially, I study the way different generations live, work, and interact. My job is to connect the dots between history, social change, and the trends shaping our future. I’ve worked with global businesses, policymakers, and organizations, helping them navigate multi-generational workplaces, shifting consumer habits, and the long-term impact of demographic change.

But #MajorRelate is where I get to take this conversation beyond boardrooms and bring it to real life—the messy, complicated, and often hilarious realities of being part of a generation and how that’s determining (or not) work, family, relationships, and everything in between.

I don’t offer life hacks or self-optimization tips, but I do offer context, insight, and analysis to help you make sense of what’s happening around us. Whether you’re a millennial mother drowning in life admin, a Boomer wanting to understand your kids and grandkids, a Gen Xer rolling your eyes at the latest workplace trends, or a Gen Zer wondering why everyone older than you seems exhausted, you’re in the right place.

Let’s figure it out together.
