About radio
Quay FM is an intriguing mix of local information and hot adult contemporary music, broadcasting live online and on the airwaves at 107.1 MHz and on DAB+. It is the only radio station holding a Community Radio license in the Channel Islands, granted by the Office of Communications (Ofcom) in the UK. The station serves Alderney and its territorial waters, but it can also be received throughout Sark, Guernsey, and Jersey.
The station was founded in the summer of 2000 and initially broadcast only during peak summer vacation periods and Christmas. However, since 2015, Quay FM has been broadcasting year-round, making it an integral part of the local community. It became a vital part of the Island's contingency measures during the COVID-19 pandemic, offering daily broadcasts to update islanders on the situation.
As a non-profit organisation, Quay FM is owned by the Alderney Broadcasting Company Limited and operates with a power of 50 Watts. The station was the only applicant for a Community Radio license within the Bailiwick of Guernsey, marking a significant milestone in local broadcasting history.
