Oldham Community Radio, also known as 99.7fm, is a distinct community radio station that targets the many varied communities living and working in the Oldham Metropolitan Borough area. Launched on March 17th, 2007, after the Community Media Association\'s 25-year-long battle for Community Radio authorization in the UK, Oldham Community Radio was among the 107 radio stations awarded a full-time license. The station differentiates itself by \"narrowcasting\" rather than \"broadcasting,\" reaching a wide cross-section of the community through regular programme strands, which results in a wide range of \"appointment to listen\" programs.
