The station has a rich history, having been a part of the local radio landscape since 1969, making it London's oldest independent radio station. It began as a pirate station and quickly gained popularity, eventually becoming the second most popular station in South West London.
Today, Radio Jackie operates legally and broadcasts on the 107.8 MHz frequency.
