About radio
Classic FM is a renowned British national commercial radio station that specializes in broadcasting classical music in an accessible and popular style. Launched in 1992, it was the first national classical music station to launch since the opening of BBC Radio 3, 25 years prior. The station is part of the United Kingdom's three Independent National Radio stations and is owned and operated by Global, a leading media company in the UK.
As of March 2023, Classic FM boasts an impressive weekly audience of 4.5 million listeners, making it a significant player in the UK's radio landscape. The station has a wide reach and is available nationally on FM, DAB digital radio, Freeview, satellite and cable television. It is also accessible internationally via live streaming audio over the internet, allowing audiences worldwide to listen to their broadcasts online.
The inception of Classic FM originated with the management at GWR group, a collection of UK commercial radio stations, and Brian Brolly, former CEO of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group. The project was later backed by Time Warner and private investor Sir Peter Michael, among others, leading to the successful launch of the station.
Their headquarters is located at 30 Leicester Square, London, WC2H 7LA. For more information, listeners can visit their official website, where they can listen to Classic FM live, learn more about their programming, and engage with their content online.
