Seahaven FM is an engaging, locally-focused radio station that broadcasts live across East Sussex, covering areas such as Eastbourne, Lewes, Newhaven, Peacehaven, Polegate, and Seaford. The station is a not-for-profit organization operating under an Ofcom community radio license and is primarily managed by a dedicated team of local volunteers, some of whom are former professional radio personnel.
Started in 2006 with initial test broadcasts in 2008, Seahaven FM has been streaming its broadcasts online since February 1st, 2008, and has been broadcasting full-time on FM frequencies since January 2011. Over the years, the station's coverage has expanded significantly. Initially, the station broadcasted on 96.3 FM, covering Newhaven, Seaford, and parts of Peacehaven. In 2019, coverage was enhanced, extending the signal to Lewes. By November 2020, an Ofcom-approved extension allowed the station to cover all of Eastbourne, including Polegate and Pevensey on 95.6 FM, allowing the station to reach about 40% of the population of East Sussex.
