About radio

Hospital Radio Norwich is a voluntary organisation and registered charity that provides a comforting and entertaining radio service to patients at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Established in 1974, it has become a staple in patient care, broadcasting a wide variety of music, local and visiting personality interviews, and news bulletins from Sky News 24 hours a day, seven days a week​​.

With an enthusiastic volunteer team of approximately 25 people handling the day-to-day operations, Hospital Radio Norwich offers live commentary of all Norwich City home games for sports fans, occasional outside broadcasts of local events, and features a popular request programme that plays a personal choice of music and dedications each evening (except Sundays)​​.

The service is free for patients, carried by bedside media units in the hospital, and is also available online. The station is entirely self-financed, relying on grants, contributions, and donations from individuals and local businesses​​.
