About radio
Magic Radio is a British adult contemporary independent local radio and national radio station owned by Bauer Radio. The station is part of the Magic network and was originally launched in 1990 as Melody FM. Magic Radio operates on several platforms nationally via DAB digital radio and online, and in London on 105.4 FM, playing a mix of music from the 1980s, along with a selection of hits from the 1960s and 1970s.
The station went national on 7 January 2015 with the launch of the DAB service named "Magic National" and was also for the first time available on Freeview, replacing Kerrang! Radio in most areas, following Bauer's acquisition of Absolute Radio Group. The Magic Radio audience grew by 63% in the five years that followed, with its digital-only sister station "Magic Chilled" contributing a further 0.5 million listeners, and its share of the market at 6.2%.
The station's programming is relayed to all the other Magic branded Bauer stations, with local breakfast shows produced and broadcast from local stations between 06:00 to 10:00 on weekdays.
