About radio
Susy Radio is a British community radio station that serves Sussex and Surrey, specifically the areas of Redhill, Reigate, Horley, Gatwick, Crawley, and parts of Tandridge and Mole Valley. Established in 2012, it is broadcasted on 103.4 MHz FM and can also be listened to online via their official website, susyradio.com.
The radio station has a rich history, tracing its roots back to the Sussex Surrey Radio Group created by Colin Pearse to run Jubilee FM in 1994. The station went through several name changes before settling on Susy Radio in 1996. Since then, Susy Radio has run yearly month-long restricted service licenses on FM or 531 kHz AM to promote local charities, causes, and events, and has donated profits to a variety of good causes including East Surrey Hospital, The Rainbow Trust, and the Royal Variety Club of Great Britain.
The station features a diverse array of presenters, including Alan French, Andreas Wood, Ben Ashmore, Bill Hannan, Bruce Montgomery, and Caroline Revell, among others. It has received financial and practical support from individual members and has made contributions towards engineering, website services, and other aspects of the station. This support has helped the station to stay on air and has contributed to the success of the project.
