TalkRadio, also styled as TalkTV, is a popular British talk radio station that broadcasts nationally. It was initially launched in February 1995 and underwent several transformations before being relaunched on 21 March 2016. The station is based in London and is owned by Wireless Group, a subsidiary of News Corp. TalkRadio is a sister station of national stations Talksport, Talksport 2, Virgin Radio UK, and Times Radio.
In January 2018, TalkRadio underwent a revamp to become more news-focused. This was further enhanced in 2020, when the station moved from DAB to DAB+. In 2022, a sister television station, TalkTV, was launched, marking Rupert Murdoch's return to British television news. A large number of broadcasts are now simulcast across both radio and television, with TalkTV branding being primarily used. This change was accompanied by a rebranding of TalkRadio's Twitter account as TalkTV, and the radio station's branding was altered to match the TV station.
As of March 2023, TalkRadio boasts a weekly audience of 840,000 listeners, according to RAJAR. The station is known for its variety of presenters, some of whom are described as shock jocks. Notwithstanding its popularity, a 2023 poll by YouGov reported that only 9% of respondents ranked TalkRadio/TalkTV as a trusted news-brand.
Listeners can tune in to TalkRadio online or via DAB+ to listen to a wide array of programs live. The station provides an engaging mix of sports, news, interviews, and debates, with several prominent hosts leading their respective shows. The weekday schedule includes shows like "The Julia Hartley-Brewer Breakfast Show," "The Independent Republic of Mike Graham," "Ian Collins," and "Vanessa Feltz," among others. During off-peak hours, the radio station is simulcast on TalkTV.
