About the Radio Station
Branch FM is a vibrant community radio station based in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England. Broadcasting both on the 101.8 FM frequency and online, it has been a key presence in the West Yorkshire area since its inception in May 2007. As one of the first Christian radio stations to be granted a broadcast license in the UK, Branch FM is committed to delivering a mix of 75% music and 25% speech, with a predominantly Christian Contemporary Music output. The station also provides news, weather, travel updates, ministry teaching, lifestyle features, and engaging discussions. Branch FM is run entirely by volunteers from across Dewsbury and West Yorkshire, along with contributors from further afield. These volunteers include the dedicated team of Steve Hodgson, Barney Childs, Michael Booth, and William Ryan, who host popular shows during the week. While the station\'s audience is primarily Christian, it also seeks to \"wholeheartedly support\" non-Christians doing good things in the community. Apart from serving as a platform for broadcasting, Branch FM is deeply involved in the local community. It collaborates with local schools, colleges, and universities to offer work placements for students and also supports young men and women with special needs. This commitment to providing training, encouraging volunteering, and delivering social gains to the local community is a testament to the station\'s contribution beyond the airwaves.
