Abbey 104 prides itself on being a station built for the community, by the community. The idea of a local radio station for Sherborne was conceived by Chris Tucker in 2010, as a way to cater to the local community which was often overlooked by larger broadcasters. The station aims to bring community views, news, and music to people in the town and surrounding areas​.
