Colourful Radio is a UK-based radio station that primarily serves the African and African-Caribbean community with a vibrant mix of news, current affairs, and urban music hit-list, including soul and reggae genres. It was founded in 2002 by Kofi Kusitor MBE and has been a significant voice in the digital radio landscape for nearly 20 years.
The station initially started as the first commercial 'internet audio stream', highlighting its strong roots in digital broadcasting. It officially launched as a fully-fledged legal commercial radio station in 2006, first online and on BSKYB satellite. In 2009, it began broadcasting on London DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) and later expanded to other cities such as Manchester and Birmingham in 2017.
Colourful Radio has earned significant recognition over the years. The Times named it as one of the Top 10 UK Digital Stations in 2010, and it was recognized as the PURE Digital Station of the Year.
