Preston Hospital Radio

Preston Hospital Radio, a local British radio station with a rich history that dates back to the early 1950s, is an essential part of the local community. The station, which broadcasts 24 hours a day, is located on the ground floor of the Royal Preston Hospital, ensuring a direct connection with the patients and healthcare workers it serves​​.

Established in 1966, Preston Hospital Radio is run by approximately 35 dedicated volunteers who manage its day-to-day operations​. Over the years, the studio has moved several times, from its original location above Redifusion on Lancaster Road, to Preston Royal Infirmary, the grounds of Deepdale hospital, Sharoe Green hospital, and finally to its current location in the Royal Preston Hospital in the early 2000s​​.

The station offers both bed-to-bed broadcasts for the patients in the Royal Preston Hospital and online broadcasts, which have been available since early 2015. This enables listeners to tune in to their programming live from anywhere, at any time​​.
