Established on 24 June 1975, TFM began its journey as Radio Tees, becoming the first local radio station in the area to broadcast on FM. Over the years, the station underwent several name changes and rebranding, with its current name, TFM, being adopted in 1988. The radio station moved to purpose-built studios in Thornaby-on-Tees in 1992, before becoming a part of Bauer Media, a German-based family business, in 2008.
TFM offers a rich lineup of shows and presenters, with popular offerings like "The 10am Throwback" and shows by Tom Green and Hattie Pearson. The station also hosts events and contests, such as "Make Me A Winner" and "Win a 7 Night Mediterranean Cruise with Steve & Karen".
